FW 25/26: A Journey through Yarns to Tell the Story of the New Collection

I am on a train, destination Pitti Filati – Florence.
Accompanying me is a strong novel, smoothed like a stone, in which the writer describes his descent from the Rosa glaciers to feel the life’s struggles in the valley below. He speaks of Sesia, the name Valsesians give to the eponymous river.
I find the principles of Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia in certain passages of the book: respect for people and the territory by one of the few textile companies that has remained in Valsesia even during periods of crisis. A company born from a revolutionary idea by the Antongini brothers, who created a spinning mill and founded the first joint-stock company in 1873, after they have taken refuge in Valsesia, and becoming protagonist of the modern industry. I find in this company’s birth the strength of the novel: a humanity forged by the territory.

Entering Pitti: Innovation and inspiration are key concepts expressed in this new exhibition space.

The exhibition space is immersed in modernity, an evolution of strongly contemporary style without creating fractures with the past:
each collection is born from observing the present, to imagine something new and create a thread that responds to market demands.

For this reason, the new ’25/26 collection presents itself with a modern manual, rich in information and knowledge typical of artisanal wisdom.
The clear and immediate manual is helping me a lot in choosing types and fineness.
Among the novelties that immediately strike me: the intervention on the compositions of the most representative yarns: such as Cashwool, Casquette, Millmere, and Kent, adding cashmere.
Creating a noticeably knotted yarn, Palladium, made without using synthetic fibers.
This confirms the constant attention to the market and respect for the environment. Lastly, a series of fine yarns, such as Supergeelong, Millennium, and Alashan, a yarn entirely in cashmere, all machine washable!

Strangely, I reversed the order of viewing the collection: now I can learn about the ranges (“gamma”). Each range contains stories that intertwine with colors: it’s a chromatic universe of soft tactility expressed between classic inspirations and bold experiments.

GAMMA 1
Revitalizing palette: it plays with traditions.
Classic winter colors are illuminated by creative and playful atmospheres. It skillfully blends the passions that each of us associates with a color.
It’s interesting to open the range by remembering who we were to know who we are.

GAMMA 2
A neutral palette that knows neither peaks nor abysses.
It feeds on the Sylvan greens of tweeds and the purplish nuances of elderberries.
No-stress colors. A range that expresses inner peace.

GAMMA 3
A palette of almost unusual chromatic encounters: spring blue that dialogues with stone gray.
These colors represent a metropolitan language.
In a winter scenario, they bring dynamism and let you embrace exclusive technical innovation.

GAMMA 4
A palette that recreates a fresh spring scent.
It draws inspiration from the Italian gardens that adorned Florentine villas of the 15th century, particularly with floral vegetation.
It is like wanting to remember spring with this range.

GAMMA 5
A palette of gentle tones and balanced combinations: it presents shades that evoke the color mauve and sandalwood.
Mauve is a shade between lavender and lilac that can also be declined in lighter nuances and represents the new chromatic romanticism.

GAMMA 6
Bouclé has always had a vintage/glamour soul: unforgettable are the famous suits worn by Jackie Kennedy. This fancy yarn is made more sophisticated by the range of very dark colors; the yarn lightens up a super classic palette that confirms black, shading into deep grays and browns.

In an ever-closer relationship between research and knowledge of materials, teamwork is emphasized! If it is true that there is a pioneer in every company, we must thank those two revolutionary brothers for instilling this spirit always projected towards the future.
